As the ACT feels the effect of water restrictions and the drought, the no-water, no-mow synthetic lawn, which looks like real grass, has come to Canberra, with several lawns already installed by local Pro-tech agents and garden maintenance experts Denise and Barry Whyte.
So far, a number of lawns, which are in back and front yards across Australia, have been installed in the ACT, including one in the front yard of Greg McNally in Wattle Street, Oconnor.
“We certainly have the greenest lawn in the street, and those people who have been coming over to have a look have been very impressed with it,” says Greg.
Alan McDonald of Crisp Circuit in Bruce has also had a Pro-tech lawn installed, and says it has greatly improved the look of his front yard.
“Before we had the Pro-tech lawn put in, our lawn was in a pretty sorry state due to the drought, because it was hard to keep water to it,” says Alan.
Denise and Barry Whyte became Pro-tech agents after seeing a newspaper story on the Pro-tech lawn and approaching the Managing Director of Pro-tech Corp P/L, Bill Rorke.
“We knew the Pro-tech products, particularly the lawns, would be perfect for the dry conditions we’re experiencing in Canberra which has made our garden maintenance work a real challenge since the drought took hold,” says Denise Whyte.
“Since we became Pro-tech agents for the ACT we have been inundated with calls from people wanting to install the lawn to save on water and maintenance and to have a great-looking yard despite the lack of rain,” says Denise.
Pro-tech, the company who brought the synthetic lawns to Australia, also installs professional synthetic golf putting greens which play as true as a championship green, yet require no maintenance and watering.
“Keen golfers are also enquiring about the Pro-tech putting greens so they can practice their skills on a realistic green without having to spend hours on maintenance,” says Denise.
Pro-tech putting greens are available nation-wide, with one recently installed in the front yard of Australian golf champion Peter O’Malley, who joins a host of international golfers to install a synthetic putting green. i
Pro-tech is owned by Bill Rorke, a former Australian international soccer player and keen amateur golfer. Pro-tech can be contacted on 1300 554 334.
